60 Can’t-Miss Tips for Drone Professionals

Follow Skyward on Twitter at @SkywardIO

If you’ve joined a Skyward webinar in the past, you know that we tend to focus on fairly specific topics: drones at major corporations, Part 107, or insurance, for example. You may have also noticed how lively the Q&A section tends to be. Regardless of the webinar topic, attendees from all over the world ask a wide variety of questions on everything from pricing to training to data processing software.

For our last webinar of 2016, I thought we’d do something a little different and address the questions we hear most frequently from drone pilots and business leaders. Thomas Haun from PrecisionHawk, Alan Pearlman from UAV Coach, and our own Tariq Rashid, Skyward’s head of flight ops, will join me in delivering 60 pro tips in 60 minutes. (Register here.)

We’ll get started Thursday, December 15 at 10 a.m. Pacific (1 p.m. Eastern) for targeted, specific tips on:

  • training
  • pricing
  • on-site efficiency
  • maintenance
  • data analysis

Some tips will be general best practices for running your business, and some will be fairly in-depth.

Here’s one of UAV Coach’s tips:
Master multi-rotor rotation by meeting a deliberate set of milestones:

1. Hover at eye-level
2. Hover and yaw, left and right
3. Achieve targeted take-offs and landings
4. Fly a square pattern, with and without yaw
5. Fly a circle pattern, with and without yaw
6. Fly a figure-8 pattern, with and without yaw
7. Achieve a 180-degree inverted landing

And PrecisionHawk recommends processing 3D maps only when necessary—an algorithm analysis may only required a two-dimensional orthomosaic.

If one pro tip per minute sounds like a lot—it is! Don’t worry though, we’ll be sending out a recording of the webinar after the fact to all registrants, so if you miss a few pro tips or can’t attend live, you’ll be able to go back and review.
